According to statistics published on the epidemiological bulletin of the National System of Epidemiological Surveillance, the Yucatan Peninsula is effectively counteracting diseases such as Zika and Chikungunya, but it has not been possible to erradicate dengue.
According to figures from the federal agency, until epidemiological week number 22, which goes from May 26 to June 2, only two cases of Zika were reported in the state of Quintana Roo. And fortunately, no cases of Chikungunya have been registered in any of the three states in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Talking about th three types of Dengue, the National System of Epidemiological Surveillance issued the following figures for the Yucatan Peninsula:
Classic Dengue type one:
- Yucatan: two men and five women.
- Campeche: three men and four women.
- Quintana there were 95 men and 80 women.
Classic Dengue type two:
- Yucatan: three men.
- Campeche: four men and four women.
- Quintana Roo: 37 men and 33 women.
Hemorrhagic Dengue:
- Yucatan: none.
- Campeche: one case (a male).
- Quintana Roo: eight cases (seven males and one female).
