Falling tree injures five children in Mérida’s Colonia Miguel Hidalgo de Mérida

Mérida, Yucatán, June 24.- A big “Flamboyan” tree collapsed at the park of Mérida’s Colonia Miguel Hidalgo, injuring five children.

On the evening of Monday June 24, the giant park tree collapsed and injured five children, one of them resulted seriously injured. The children were playing in the park when the accident occurred.

The tree trunk damaged the wire fence of the Colonia´s recreational center.

Mrs. Delmi, neighbor of the place and mother of one of the injured girls, said that a big part of the same tree had fallen recently, and residents of the area asked their local legislator for his intervention to manage the cutting of the tree.
