On its first arrival in the year and opening the summer cruise-season in June, the “Carnival Dream” left good profits to the tourist sector with more than four thousand passengers on board.
June opens with the right foot when it comes to economic spill left by cruise ships in Progreso. So said business owners and street vendors on the Malecon, who, with the first arrival of the month, managed a decent income, thanks to the interest of foreign passengers of staying on the beaches of the municipality to enjoy a beautiful sunny day.
The “Carnival Dream” arrived in Progreso for the first time in 2019, bringing a total of 4,451 passengers, and 1,338 crew members, arriving from Cozumel and heading to Galveston, it was also estimated that about 60 percent of the occupants of the ship remained in Progreso, while the rest of the tourists went to other parts of the State for the day, most of them to archaeological sites.
This boat opens the month of June, on which nine cruises are expected, including three more returns of the “Carnival Dream” to Yucatecan coasts, coupled with the arrival of the “Valor” and “Enchantment” cruisers.
According to the service providers, restaurants and vendors on the Malecon, the positive response of the passengers and the interest in their products and services, was fundamental for a good day sales. This situation makes local businessmen, restaurenteurs and craft vendors feel optimistic about the summer season about to begin.
