Merida dermatologist found dead in his García Ginerés home

On the early morning hours of Saturday, May 11, 40 year-old Dr. José Antonio Plascencia Gómez, a well-known Merida dermatologist, was found dead in his home in the García Ginerés neighborhood.

The doctor suffered from hypertension, a disease that caused his death.

The body was found upside down in the garage of his property located on the corner of Calle 5 and 28 of Colonia Garcia Ginerés.

The emergency services arrived at the place, only to confirm that the doctor did not have vital signs anymore.

Dr. Plascencia Gómez led demonstrations against Víctor Caballero Durán, a former PRI candidate for mayor of Mérida, for his alleged participation in a case of corruption known as “Crecicuentas”, which was basically a fraud. The “Crecicuentas” case led to Caballero’s resignation from the Ministry of Health of Yucatan (SSY), during the administration of Rolando Zapata Bello.
