La Noche Blanca is back in town! (Mérida May 17th and 18th)

La Noche Blanca is back in Mérida, and once again it features a wide array of events at the Plaza Grande, Remate del Paseo de Montejo, San Juan, Santa Ana, Santa Lucia, Mejorada and Calle 60.

La Noche Blanca at the park:

San Juan: 8 PM “Food without borders”, cuisine from Germany, China, Colombia, Argentina, France and Uruguay.

Santa Ana: 8 PM the Agora educational community will be giving away rag dolls for kids to participate in a brief workshop, as part of its “Initiative for a Ciudad Feliz for boys and girls in Mérida”. Writer Edel Juárez and singer Gina Osorno will also be performing along with visual projections of “Cine a la Mano” (Cinema at hand).

Santa Lucia 8 PM collective exhibition of art and design coordinated by Bárbara Lobattón (local artists, designers, and creative people in general will showcase their work, which will be for sale).

Also in Santa Lucía:

  • Kyber Caves will entertain with chill in sounds “danceable synthpop”.
  • Community Collective Theater “Pixanitos” with a regional comedy play of the Yucatan.

  4. Gallo Loco
  5. Alebrije

Fashion in the Plaza Grande

Some of the Noche Blanca main events will take place at the Plaza Grande:

Luna Bohemia Fashion Show (catwalk featuring handmade garments made with cotton and linen).

Participating brands: Carla Fernández, La Troupe, Nuno Tulum, Dutzi Designs, Hacienda Montecristo, Anikena, Lolita Lolita, Arte Sano, Omnia and In The Midtle.

Authentic artistic meals and drinks:

More than twenty restaurants will offer discounts and promotions on dishes and drinks, as well as live music from different genres, some of the participating businesses are: Pop Cafeteria, Alma Calma and the Bierhaus.

  • La Mezcaleria Foundation presents “La Yepa Ska” from Argentina
  • El Cardenal Cantina will feature a tribute to Natalia Lafourcade
  • Mercado 60 will feature a musical event known as “Troveando”
  • El Dzalbay Cantina will have a “Night full of Jazz”

Plaza Grande: Pérez-Prado Orchestra, Las Auténticas Estrellas, 23:59 hours.

Santa Ana: Hip Hop artists Carlos G. Lacayo Valle, Ingrid Strauss and Terry Eduard, from Costa Rica, 21:30 hours.
Mexican Dubwiser Electronic music fused with cumbia, reggae, hip hop, funk, rock, soul and blues, 00:30 hours.

Parque de Santiago: Los Sabineros, a duet playing the songs of author Joaquín Sabina. 22:00 hours.
