Is the State Secretary of Public Security on his way out?

According to an unofficial source close to the head of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) of Yucatan, Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, which asked to remain anonymous, the Secretary will depart the state corporation in a matter of days.

It is said that, it will be in the coming days when the head of the State Police leaves the position that was entrusted to him for 17 years during three PRI state administrations.

Saidén Ojeda had already submitted his resignation on two occasions: the first at the end of the administration of Ivonne Ortega Pacheco, but he was ratified at the request of former governor Rolando Zapata Bello, and the second time at the end of Zpata’s term.

Mauricio Vila Dosal, as governor-elect, asked Saidén Ojeda to please continue as Public Security Secretary, at least during the first half of his six-year term. And Saidén Ojeda agreed to remain in charge of the State Police only for six more months.

He will be replaced by veterinarian Javier Medina Torre, who was in charge of Yucatan Public Security during the government of PAN’s  Patricio Patrón Laviada (2001 – 2007).

This is part of the structural changes  and “adjustments”that are being made by Governor Mauricio Vila.

It has been said that Saidén Ojeda was unhappy to continue in office with the current government of the PAN political party, but agreed to remain “for the good of Yucatan” and at the express request of local political and business groups.

According to the same unofficial sourc, it is said that within the police corporation the rumor among superior and middle commands is that “the boss is leaving” and so they are allegedly carrying out some “rearrangements” in their ranks to maintain the “line of command”.

Finally, the rumor is aso that an increase in the criminal wave in the region is expected as a result of Saiden Ojeda’s resignation.
