Wind from the Yucatán will power will American Candy company Mars Inc.’s six confectionery and pet food facilities, cutting 40 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 – and ideally 100 percent by 2040, Confectionary News reports.
Mars is the Virginia-based corporation that produces M&Ms, Skittles, Orbit gum as well as Turin, the Mexican chocolate maker.
With this new project in Yucatan, the state government is committing to reduce the greenhouse emissions as part of the Under2 Coalition.
