In an incident that never happened in Mérida unlike other cities in the country, two men assaulted a bus driver and wounded him on the neck with a knife.
On the evening of Monday April 22nd, two men assaulted a Situr bus in the Yucalpetén neighborhood. They seriously wounded the bus driver with a knife.
According to yucatan.com.mx, the events occurred on Circuito Colonias, near the corner with Calle 61, in Yucalpetén, just a few meters from the main entrance to Prepa 2 and the City of Merida Municipal Public Services office.
The bus driver declared he was being followed by a vehicle between 9 and 10 at night, and at a certain moment the car blocked the bus way, two people got off and got on board the Situr unit, where they assaulted the driver with knives. They took all the money and one of the thieves wounded the driver in the neck, causing a serious bleeding.
The assailants manage to escape after the robbery, the subjects boarded the car again and fled the scene.
So far there is no official version of the assault, but it was found out that the driver is still in the hospital.
