Maintenance works continue at Progreso’s wharf

The reinforcement work is carried out to ensure the pier’s resistance and permanence.

Repairs and maintenance work continue at the Progreso old fiscal pier’s arches, to ensure its resistance and fastness of this important historic infrastructure. The pier’s arches are more than 70 years old.

The Progreso Port Authority (API) stated that, as part of the maintenance work of the old fiscal dock, maintenance and reinforcement work is being carried out on the arches viaduct footings. This is mainly due to the wear and tear that the structure has suffered over the years, derived from the use to which it was subjected and the erosion of some of the materials that make up the foundation of the structure.

The job is to apply a concrete fill in the wear zones to recover the uniformity of the structure and additionally to place a protective layer around the existing pillars.

Of course, all the cargo of the port and users of the remote terminal, move in and out through the new structure.

In spite of the work that is being carried out, the pier continues operating normaly, with small vehicles, mainly for the transfer of the personnel that operates in the facilities of the API building.
