In 10 days there were seven assaults and one homicide; a security operation has been implemented in the area
CDMX. (Agencias). A criminal gang has managed to commit seven robberies in the past 10 days, out of which they have obtained a profit calculated in millions of pesos. Their victims are visitors who leave the capital’s airport or those who come to that place to exchange dollars, euros or any other currency. Law enforcement, has identified its modus operandi, but so far these criminals are yet to be captured.
It is believed that members of this criminal group are responsible for the robbery and murder of a lawyer last Friday in the “Circuito Interior”, who it is said, carried with him in a brief case a large amount of money in cash (half a million pesos) resisted the assault and was shot four times.
The band continues to operate, between Monday and Wednesday of this week there were two more robberies: in the first they obtained $200 thousand pesos and the second, $77 thousand.
After multiple complaints filed, investigation agents began to review hours of recording of the cameras inside the International Airport of Mexico City (AICM), as well as others around the premises through which they located them.
There are at least six, three men and three women; two of these are in charge of loitering and “hawking” in the vicinity of the exchange houses, posing as tourists and even, on some occasions, approaching a person in order to observe in detail how much money the victim is carrying. After choosing the target, they follow the person and observe in which vehicle leaves. A third woman indicates to her accomplices the model, color, and license plates of the car to be assaulted.
The heavy work corresponds to the other three accomplices, two on motorcycles and a third in a compact car that serves as a wall. Once the victim is located, they take advantage of the traffic in the arteries around the airport, in the vicinity of the municipal governments of Venustiano Carranza, Azcapotzalco, Tlalpan and Gustavo A. Madero, to steal it and escape.
Another characteristic of this group is the use of extreme violence. All those affected have denounced that they are threatened with firearms and that at the slightest attempt to resist the perpetrators will open fire.
In order to stop and dismantle this gang, the Attorney General’s Office and the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) have implement a series of operations in the arteries where this men and women mainly. Thanks to this, on Tuesday two of the criminals were captured in the vicinity of the Venustiano Carranza mayor’s office; the aggressors followed from the airport a foreigner, from whom they tried to steel a Rolex watch.
It is expected that with the information provided by the detainees, it will be possible to capture the other accomplices.
