Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio teamed up with the UN’s International Labour Organization to fight against racism and discrimination.
On the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the UN agency launched a campaign, along with prominent figures, to denounce racial discrimination.
The actress, who is Indigenous, has been constantly mocked and attacked by social media users and Mexican actors for her Indigenous roots and appearance.
Nevertheless, all this hasn’t stopped her and Yalitza has vowed to fight for the rights of domestic workers and Indigenous women. She has also emphasized the importance of representation and how it can inspire little girls to fulfill their dreams.
The campaign addressed the causes behind discrimination and emphasizes the importance of access to opportunities, skills & education.
In the video, Yalitza says that diversity and inclusion are very important.
