Governor showcases economic panorama of Yucatan to ambassadors

The competitive advantages of the State, as well as its main areas of opportunities in terms of investment, tourism and commercial exchange, were presented by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal during the meeting “Business Yucatan. Investment & Trade Opportunities “with ambassadors and diplomatic representatives of different countries.

In the framework of the meeting with delegates from strategic countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, plus Australia, Singapore, China, South Korea, India and Russia, as well as Europe and Israel, the head of the Executive exhibited in Mexico City the current economic panorama of the state, as well as the important attraction of direct foreign investment and the promotion of Yucatecan products, at national and international level.

Accompanied by the head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Labor (Sefoet), Ernesto Herrera Novelo, the president said that the Yucatan is very attractive for investment in the manufacturing sectors, including automotive, aerospace, food and textiles, as well as in agroindustry, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), infrastructure and of course, tourism.

Before representatives of companies, chambers of industry and commerce of the aofrementioned countries, Vila Dosal recalled that, as part of his administration initiative to generate better opportunities for the Yucatecan families, it was announced that seven local, national and foreign capital firms dedicated to the automotive industry, aerospace, medical and textile will make an investment of 5.5 billion pesos (300 million USD), which will favor the creation of more than 10,570 direct and 34,700 indirect jobs.

In addition, the governor introduced a fiscal stimulus package to attract investments in infrastructure and tourism services within the State, which includes the reduction of up to 100 percent in taxes and duties in the first three years of activity and seeks to attract the gaze of new companies and firms that could generate more and better work options that will improve the quality of life of the people of Yucatan.

In this context, the governor stressed that in Yucatan there is an important boost to agriculture and agroindustry, featuring high quality products, such as honey; citrus fruits, particularly yellow lemons, and other fruits such as coconut and papaya, as well as aromatic herbs, including basil, rosemary, mint and chamomile.

In addition, Mauricio Vila stressed that the government that he leads, has promoted key projects to encourage the arrival of investment, as well as to detonate economic growth that leads to an improvement in the quality of life and welfare of the population, from the development of an economy of knowledge, innovation and synergy among the actors of the Quintuple Helix.

Among them, he pointed out the federal projects of the Special Economic Zone (EEZ) of Progreso and the construction of the Maya Train; as well as the Common Agenda for Yucatan, a strategic alliance for sustainable economic development, which guarantees the continuity of the legal certainty offered by the State.

The development of an ecosystem of innovation provided by the Science and Technology Park (Pcyty), which has established itself as a national leader in biodiversity studies, seed and micro plant production, traceability of seafood and the agroindustry. In addition, the Pcyty houses important spaces for science, such as the National Litoteca, highly specialized in geosciences, which has information and basic geological samples from Tabasco, Campeche and Yucatán, vital information for the oil industry.

During the press conference, the Governor stressed that the Tourism Tianguis 2020 to be held in Yucatan, specifically in the city of Merida, represents an opportunity that will allow the state to continue with its rate of growth, since, according to estimates, the investment made in this project has a return of up to 5 times, since those who come to the territory for this event can get to know their attractions and then recommend the destination, which generates the arrival of more visitors.
