Security is guaranteed for the “Carnaval de Mérida”

Mayor, Renán Barrera, informed that in order to guarantee the safety of the thousands of Meridanos and visitors who will attend the Carnival celebrations in Plaza Carnaval, 430 elements of the municipal police and 500 of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) will be deployed.

Barrera Concha explained that there will also be around 100 people from the Municipal Public Services to perform cleaning and janitorial tasks every day throughout the facility, including the bathrooms and spaces with the greatest concentration of people.

Similarly, there will be a permanent cleaning crew in coordination with staff of the organizing committee of the Carnival celebrations.

“We are going to have a very safe carnival, practically a thousand security agents will be guarding all the streets of Plaza Carnaval, entrances, exits, parking lot and all areas in general”, he assured.

He said that the layout and schedules of the municipal staff, will work in a coordinated manner with the police corporation so that security is not neglected in other parts of the city, such as the Historic Center.

The mayor, added that there will be presence of officers of the State Coordination of Civil Protection (Procivy) as well as its municipal counterpart for attention to any event that may arise inside or outside the facilities.
