For their alleged participation in “crimes against health” (crímenes contra la salud) particularly in illegal distribution of crack cocaine, two suspects (J.R.E.E. and E.A.P.K) were linked to process, the first for being allegedly responsible for the sale and the second for buying the drugs, in a very unusual situation for Mérida, Yucatán, where this type of illegal substance is rarely seen, but is common in places such as Cancun, Quintana Roo.
This event took place twelve days ago, on Friday January 4th, on Calle 10-A of Colonia San Pablo Oriente, Mérida, when the subjects were surprised by elements of the Public Security Secretariat in in the middle of the sale operation.
Presumably J.R.E.E. delivered a small package to E.A.P.K., authorities confiscated and examined the substance inside the package, and it tested positive for cocaine in its crack variation.
During the hearing, the Public Prosecutor’s Office presented the necessary evidence and requested the accused be linked to the proceedings, for which reason the judicial authority ordered the indictment for the crime charged to both subjects.
Given this, the judge established that those involved will attend every week to sign before the Prosecutor’s Office, are not allowed from leaving the city of Mérida and must carry an electronic bracelet locator, for the entire duration of the process.
In addition, an investigation with a one month deadline will be carried out, during which time the inquest will continue to obtain the test data that will allow definingand meanwhile the local authorities will define the legal status of these two subjects.
