Merida, Yucatan. January 29, 2019.- Thanks to the timely intervention and coordination of the Municipal Police of Mérida and the Fire Department of the Public Security Secretariat, a fire was put out inside the Posada Principal hotel, located on the Calle 58 between 71 and 73, Merida’s Centro.
Mérida’s Fire Department unit 345 received an emergency call about a possible fire originating in room number 14 of Posada Principal hotel, for which municipal police officers arrived onsite to evacuate the building, and waited for the arrival of fire trucks.
Firefighters arrived to make the necessary maneuvers to detect the point of origin of the fire, while the Mérida Municipal Police coordinated the traffic on Calle 71 and Calle 73 to maintain streets clear, in case of needing an additional emergency service.
Finally, the preliminary version indicates that the fire originated in a bed as a result of a cigarette butt, which caused no major damage due to the timely intervention of police and firefighters.
