The spokespersons of fifty independent businesses in Mexico, shared with passion their corresponding ongoing projects, along with their contagious enthusiasm, that was going to be rewarded at the end of the day: these were the Startup Games, which celebrated its first edition in Mexico, after touring several countries around the world.

This unique event is developed by the Global Entrepreneur Program, an initiative of the Department of International Trade of the United Kingdom.

“We help people to fulfill their dreams; the goal is to attract entrepreneurs and their businesses, but it’s not just about that, but to support them during the process, “said Derek Goodwin, director of the Global Entrepreneur Program.

“The Startup Games are a platform to promote independent plans with high growth potential, what I love about the program is that, although we are active in developed countries, we have a specific passion for working in places where we know there are talented, fantastic people but limited opportunities, and I am referring to the possibilities of working with other successful entrepreneurs “, said the director, who assured that Latin America is a very important region for them.

Angels Nest, EY, CEMEX, Diageo, Grupo Modelo, Xipe and British Airways joined as sponsors for this event that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Startup Games provide guidance and consulting to entrepreneurs, coaching them, and getting them on the right path to fulfill their objective and aspirations.

The director explained that during the games, participants simulate investment strategies through a mobile application, in this way they offer their products and services to investors.

The winner in the Mexico edition was Blacktrust Group, a leading Mexican company in the implementation of People Analytics models in Latin America.

Blacktrust Group was the winner at the end of the day, the company had a greatest virtual investment during the simulation. Bruno Blackmore, representative of the winning project, will travel to London on British Airways, where he will participate in a personalized mentoring, fully provided by the Global Entrepreneur Program in London.

Derek Goodwin said: “What we do is to form a global community of entrepreneurs, we give them the tools we have, because we are privileged to live in the United Kingdom; a country that offers many business and financing opportunities, that allows us to extend aid to people who live in places where obtaining such support is a lot more difficult. But it is essential that the entrepreneur realizes the great potential he has.”
