Four arrested in relation with Playa del Carmen’s shooting

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.- On Tuesday January 8th, the Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest of four alleged perpetrators of the murder of seven people in “Las Virginias” Bar in Colonia Villas del Sol on Sunday, January 6. The arrests took place in Colonia Ejido and Colonia Colosio in Playa del Carmen, during two separate police operations.

The two different operations that began on Monday January 7th, after midnight were coordinated by the Attorney General of the State, Oscar Montes de Oca, who arrived in Playa del Carmen for this sole purpose. Officers of the Municipal Police and the Navy Secretariat participated in these tasks.

The first operation took place at a property located in Colonia Ejido, along Juarez Avenue, while the second was conducted behind Playa del Carmen’s cemetery, in Colonia Colosio, where weapons and drugs were also found. A large area was taped by police officers, while arrests were made.

Four people were detained, which have already been presented to the judicial authorities, and their legal status is yet to be determined.
