Don Antonio Marín quintessential Merida’s Master of Ceremonies dies at 85

On Wednesday January 16, 85-year-old professor Don Antonio Marín y Aguilar, well known for being the Master of Ceremonies at the City Council of Mérida.

Among all the artistic events that he headed are “Lunes de Vaquería“, “Serenatas de Santa Lucía”, and “Noches Mexicanas” among others.

Born in Valladolid, Don Antonio was a retired elementary and high school teacher. After his retirement, he became the offcial voice of all the cultural events of the Merida City Council, which he did for three decades.

Don Antonio Marín y Aguilar, did the offcial presentatio of the Santa Lucia serenades since the year 1988 and he was widely known as the man in charge of conducting these cultural events.

The man will be very much missed by all residents of the “White City”.
