The “Triumph” cruise ship docked in Progreso and injected life into the port streets, after the decrease of the influx of visitors during the first week of January.
After a couple of days without activity due to the lack of tourists in the area, on Tuesday Jan. 8, the beaches of Progreso were again visited by travelers with the arrival of the “Carnival Triumph” cruise ship, with its more than 3 thousand passengers and several hundred crew members.
Although a large number of visitors decided to take the tour to the archaeological sites and/or cenotes, at least half of the visitors decided to stay in the coastal municipality to enjoy the beach and swim in the ocean.
For their part, representatives of the restaurant sector of the malecon stated that the first week of the year has not very good for tourism due to bad weather, back to school period, and the end of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
