As crimes against women continue on the rise in the city of Mérida and the rest of the state of Yucatán, a man is now in prison for beating up and stabbing his wife, in front of their 12 year-old daughter, who was also beat up as she tried to help her mother.

The man, who had already been reported three times previously for family violence, decided to beat up his wife and then attack her with a knife. And this criminal also beat his daughter, who was trying to defend her mother.

Under the influence of alcohol, Jorge M. L. R. now faces criminal proceedings for the crimes of family violence and qualified injuries, charges presssed by his wife Eunice A. P. C.

The judge of control of Mérida Luis Edwin Mugarte Guerrero imposed the precautionary measure of preventive detention until the day of the trial.

The couple is still legally married and during their marriage they procreated 2 children, a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, but due to family violence problems, the couple got separated in April 2018.

On December 15, the victim received a call from her husband, who told her h was going home to see the “Canelo” boxing match on TV, have a good time with the family and drink a couple of beers. She agreed and asked him to come home.

When the fight was over, everything was fine, but Jorge continued drinking, and at 3 in the morning, he asked the victim to go with him to buy more beer, and when she refused, the man got violent.

At one point, the subject took a knife from a cupboard and stabbed the woman twice in the back.
Their 12 year-old daughter tried to stop her father from stabbing the mother and got slapped in the face.

Somehow the injured woman managed to lock herself in the bathroom and from there she called a friend, who immediately called the police, who arrived moments later to stop the attacker.

The subejct is in detention and the investigations files B1 / 1453/16, 265/3/12 and 282/4/12 are now open at the Third Public Ministry Agency in Mérida, Yuc.
