Tren Maya attracts French investment to Quintana Roo

Although it has not yet begun its construction, the Mayan Train project already began to generate attraction of entrepreneurs in Quintana Roo, since five companies of French origin expressed their interest to invest in the Mexican Caribbean and began talks with the Development Institute and Financing of Quintana Roo (Idefin).

The companies that are interested in investing in the state belong to the tourism sector and among which are Concept 1900 Entertainment, specialized in the manufacture of semi-commercial carousels; ECA2, producer of events and artistic shows Cirque Du Soleil type; Waveriding Solution, which produces systems for the simulation of artificial waves in pools, as well as Skylights, which designs and produces virtual reality devices, among others.

Philippe Garcia, commercial counselor of the French embassy, ​​said that the opportunities for economic exchange between the France and Quintana Roo are very promising, since after the announcement of the Maya Train there is a possibility that the volume of French tourists visiting this part of Mexico would grow significantly.

“Currently, 180,000 French travelers, out of the 240,000 that visit the country enter through the international airport of Cancun, and the possibility of touring other regions of the Mexican Southeast will attract a lot more of them, especially the ones interested in cultural tourism”, he assured.

The also director of Business France in Mexico, a company dedicated to the internationalization of French enterprises in the world, said that, like France, Mexico is a country in full growth in terms of tourism, with enormous possibilities to exceed 40 million foreign visitors by the end of 2018 .

In the specific case of Quintana Roo, Garcia said that it is very interesting to have Cozumel as the world’s leading destination in the reception of cruise ships with more than 3.5 million passengers a year, in addition to Cancun in the top ten of the most visited and recognized international destinations.
