Four criminals arrested after they robbed Mayra Jewelry store in Progreso

Four men were detained on Thursday Dec. 27, after they robbed a jewelry store in Progreso, Yuc. They will be turned over to a control judge, once the time established by law has expired.

Two of the subjects are from Mexico City and the other two from the State of Mexico, according the police report, these men came to Yucatan exclusively to commit the robbery at the Mayra Jewelry store in Progreso, where they beat up the manager, Luis Bates Acosta, who had to be taken to the hospital.

The detainees remain for the time being in the hands of the State Attorney General’s Office, and tonight the term of the law expires to make them available to a judge, in this case the Third Party of Control with headquarters in Progreso, Santos May Tinal.

The criminals were arrested in Mérida after a quick operation that the Ministry of Public Security set up once the report of the robbery was received.

Then the security protocol was activated, which included the mobilization of police officers from the different sectors, as well as the reinforcement of the monitoring of the surveillance camcorders and the license plate reading arcs, all this combined with the timely warning.

Besides, citizen collaboration was also part of the operation in this case, specifically residents of the zone bordering the O’Horán hospital, who refused to hide one of the delinquents when they got out of their car in Canek Avenue and ran away in different directions.

One of the assailants was caught behind the O’Horán Hospital, and his three accomplices at the “Bulevar Infante” hotel on Itzaes Avenue.

The four criminals fled in an Audi vehicle that was tracked using the Umipol monitoring system. They were captured in a matter of hours by the state police.
