After announcing the news that a Mérida man brutally beat up his girlfriend, a wave of indignation crept the social networks, where users claim justice and demand punishment on the aggressor, show solidarity with the victim and reveal additional information on this terrible case of gender violence.
Christian C.D., originally from Tabasco, brutally beat up A.C.M. because he found out that she was going to end their relationship. Apparently blinded by jealousy, the man attacked the young girl in a brutal way with his hands and using a hammer.
The young girl was found tied up inside a house located on Calle 33 of the Benito Juarez Norte neighborhood, in the north of Mérida.
It was the next door neighbors who alerted the authorities as they heard the heartrending cries of the young woman and very loud noises inside the house, which they described as slamming.
It was reported that when the police officers arrived and proceeded to arrest the aggressor, he physically attacked them, so they had to ask for reinforcements to aprehend the suspect.

The young woman had to be transferred to a hospital. She presented a large number of bruises on the face and all over the body, as well as a possible nasal septum fracture.
The young woman is 20 years old and was a student at the Piaget Educational Center, it was informed that she was a soccer player, and used to play goalkeeper for the Teresiano soccer team.
Among the Facebook publications Cecilia Patrón Laviada showed her indignation at the events and published a photograph that the young woman authorized to make public, so other women do not have go through the same nightmare she lived.

“Until when are the authorities going to do something about gender violence in Yucatán? Are we going to continue to allow violence against women as a society? I am filled with indignation by the beating this girl got from her sentimental partner,” Cecilia Patrón Laviada wrote on social networks.
Relatives of the victim have shown their anger and concern in social networks too, arguing that for lack of evidence the person responsible could be released.

The victim’s family confirmed to Diario de Yucatán that the girl’s injuries are serious, but she is conscious and recovering in a hospital.
They asked the authorities to punish the aggressor with the full weight of the law so that this situation sets up a precedent in relation with gender violence issues.
On Friday November 9, the imputation hearing will be held where the judge is expected to grant preventive detention, but believe it or not, this criminal could be released allegedly for lack of evidence.
