Mauricio Vila Dosal is on official visit to Havana, Cuba

During the inauguration of the Mexican Pavilion at the International Fair of Havana, Cuba (Fihav) 2018 on October 31, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal affirmed that Yucatán will open 5,000 hotel rooms next year, for a total of 70,000.

The state executive said he sees Cuba as an important trading partner, so in the next few years, Yucatan will expand its relationship with the island with the consolidation of business opportunities that this region presents.

In the company of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the island, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, and the Mexican ambassador in that nation, Enrique Martínez y Martínez, the governor stressed that Cuba has important development indexes and that opens a range of possibilities to consolidate and increase bilateral exchange.

“The geographical proximity makes us, practically, obligated business partners. Today we see that Cuba has an important growth in the area of ​​the supply for the tourist industry, which is an interesting sector for the Yucatan, especially in regard to fruits and vegetables, like the lemon that is grown in the south of the state, as well as chicken, turkey and pork, “he said during his first international trip and visit that country as the new governor of Yucatan.

Accompanied by a delegation of leaders of business chambers and representatives of companies of the state, Vila Dosal remarked that, since 5,000 hotel rooms will be opened in Yucatan next year, this means a huge demand for food to attend to visitors.

“We reiterate the willingness of the government and the people of Yucatan to work together, hand in hand, in what is already a brotherhood, a relationship that will endure over the years. Yucatecan businessmen are turning to Cuba to do business, we have no doubt that trade with this nation will increase, ” Mauricio Vila said before the CEO of ProMéxico, Paulo Carreño King.
