“A tour through the history of YUcatecan food and regional dishes from pre-Hispanic recipes to the transformation of gastronomy with the arrival of the Spaniards, is what the Museum of Yucatecan Gastronomy (MUGY) will offer the public, a new space located on Calle 62 between 55 and 57”, according to José Enrique Linage Rosado who is part of the project.
The museum is a private initiative to offer both tourists and the “demanding Yucatecan palate” a different experience. Visitors can see, feel, smell and taste the authentic recipes, step by step.
“Visitors will also be transported to a typical Maya village in the heart of the city of Mérida. It could be described as a restaurant-museum featuring a personal experience, “said Linage Rosado.
The museum will present the authentic process of the buried dishes, slow cooked on the embers, or the elaboration of the kóoles or salsas that have a millenarian origin. “Attendees will be able to observe how the typical seeds and spices of the region are used, as well as utensils and condiments of the colonial era and the Maya and Creole cuisine” he explained.

The tour concludes with the representation of a Maya village where the visitor gets to know the process of the dish preparation and try some of them.
The inauguration date of the space will be announced soon through the social networks of the Museum of Yucatecan Gastronomy.
