“Miss Earth Yucatan 2019 is a beauty contest with a cause committed to the preservation of the environment”, that’s how model Valentina Cervera this event, of which she is coordinator, and added that the grand finale will take place on November 29 at Hacienda Teya.
The contest winner will represent our state at next year’s national competition. During the four semifinal rounds the contestants demonstrated not only their physical beauty, talent and grace, but also their commitment to care for the environment.
The semifinals will award distinctions to the three best positioned at each stage: On November 4, the ocean front stage will take place at Telchac Puerto, with the swimsuit competition, previously the contestants will carry out a beach cleanup activity in this important port of the Yucatan coast, as part of the event.
-15 November, Metropolitan Technological University of Mérida, semi-final in recycled materials costume, with designs by students of this institution.
-17 November, Ticul, Semifinal Gala Costume and catwalk where young women will wear cocktail designs of leading Yucatecan fashion designers.
-24 November, Dzemul, typical costume semifinal.
-The grand finale will be on November 29 at Hacienda Teya.
Daniela Compañ Escalante, Miss Earth Yucatan 2018, was present to express her support to the participants and indicated that with the election of the representative of our state for next year’s national contest, more time of preparation is obtained and with it greater possibilities for aspire for the crown.
Yucatán seeks to represent Mexico
Valentina Cervera declared that Miss Earth is already one of the most important beauty pageants in the world, with representatives from almost every country in the world and with a significant environmentalist focus.
Currently our country is represented by Michoacán Melissa Flores Godinez and the international grand finale will be on November 3 in Manila, Philippines.
The candidates for the title of Miss Earth Yucatán 2019 are: Laura Torres Castillo, 22 years old; María José Bolio Cano, 18, Marian Díaz Tejero, 21, Karen Espinosa Cantón, 21; Mariana Medina Cetina, 20; Mariel Valencia Moreno, 21 and Carolina Vales Arce, 20.
Regarding the controversy over the participation of transgenders in beauty contests, Valentina Cervera was emphatic to point out that Miss Earth establishes in its terms and conditions that all contestants must have been born women in order to register, foreseeing situations like the one that took place in Spain, with a Miss Universe aspirant. However, she added that transsexuals have their own spaces to compete and that is where they can stand out.
The presentation of applicants and the press conference of the contest was held at the Hampton Inn hotel in the state capital.
