Susano Cahum arrested for the double homicide of his parents in Temozón, Yucatán

Agents of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) arrested Susano Cahum Caamal on Friday Oct. 26, for his alleged responsibility in the double homicide of his parents, committed last Tuesday Oct. 23 in the municipality of Temozón.

Investigations of the crime by the SSP and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) provided sufficient evidence to obtain the arrest warrant, granted by the First Control Court of Valladolid.

The police investigators arrested the subject on Calle 8 (between 13 and 15) in Temozón. He is the only suspect for the crime of murder of his parents Máximo Cahum Dzib, 89, and Esperanza Caamal Poot, 79.

According to inquiries, Susano had problems with his parents and constantly claimed that he had not been given an inheritance. On several occasions his brothers had to intervene to calm him down him.

It was precisely one of her sisters, Jacinta Cahum Caamal, who discovered the dead bodies on Tuesday morning.

At first it was thought that it was a robbery, but after reviewing and finding all the belongings, this hypothesis was discarded.

The autopsy showed that the couple died with their throats cut with a knife. The bodies did not present marks produced by mooring or subjection.

On Thursday October 25, Máximo Cahum Dzib and Esperanza Caamal Poot were buried in the cemetery of Temozón.
