In a brief statement, the Progreso Port Authority (API) reported that the port exceeded the number of cruise passengers expected for this year.
It was announced that between January and July of this year a total of 279, 216 passengers arrived at the cruise terminal, a figure that represents an increase of more than 20% over the same period last year.
Raúl Torre Gamboa, director of API, said that this number of cruise passengers descended from the 94 boats that have docked at the Mexican terminal during the year.
According to the figures of this year, February was the month with the highest performance and productivity in the cruise segment, serving 20 ships together with a total of 51,314 tourists, followed by March with 16 vessels and 46,864 visitors.
On the other hand, June registered the lowest performance of 2018, with only 8 cruiser arrivals, and 28,499 registered passengers.
