AMLO will meet with Southeast Mexico governors to discuss Maya Train Project

Palenque, the starting point of the “Maya Train”, will host a meeting between President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the governors of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo to discuss the issue.

The train route, which will take the other end to Cancun, in Quintana Roo, will cover 1,500 kilometers, would be a tourism trigger and would cost between 120 thousand and 150 thousand million pesos that will be covered with mixed financing (government and private initiative). The works could begin in 2019, after the tender that will take place on December this year.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador met with the governors Carlos Joaquín González, of Quintana Roo; Manuel Velasco, Chiapas; Alejandro Moreno, Campeche; Arturo Núñez Jiménez, Tabasco and Rolando Zapata Bello, from Yucatan, states that in a period of four years would be united by the emblematic project of the “Maya Train”, which will tour some of the main archaeological centers of that Maya culture in Mexico.

Although there are no exact reports on the topics to be discussed, it is assumed that they will talk about the benefits, route and financing of the “Maya Train”, among other topics related to the project.
