“The state of Yucatán is one of the three most important poles in terms of technology and innovation (IT) at national level, along with Jalisco and Chihuahua”, said Rubén López Arceo, national president of the Council of Entrepreneurs in Technology, Innovation and Communications (Consejo de Empresarios en Tecnología Innovación y Comunicación CETIC)
“Yucatan is currently in second place” he said.
López Arceo participated in the inauguration of the Expo Tech Day Cetic 2018, held by the National Association of IT and Communications Distributors (Asociación Nacional de Distribuidores de Tecnología Informática y Comunicaciones: ANADIC), at the convention center of the Canaco Mérida.
The event is aimed at decision makers in times of vibrant and unpredictable mobility of the economy in business and the technological revolution that alters the way of living, working and relating.
The president of Cetic indicated that Yucatán will stand out with the arrival of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which will attract other large companies to invest in the state. The SEZ “will develop knowledge, jobs, new solutions that will be available and we can see them first-hand”.
He also announced that this week the Cetic would have a meeting with José de Jesús Williams, rector of the Uady, to review the curricula and to learn what are the demands in terms of skills that young people should cultivate and develop in order to work in jobs related to their field of study.
Simón Cáceres Heredia, head of the local Cetic, said that in Yucatán there are more than 140 IT integrators and more than 60 that manufacture and develop, and this figure grows every year.
