On July 30, the Mini Olympics 2018 started in Oxkutzcab, Yucatán, with the participation of 400 children. These games are organized by the local parish of San Francisco de Asis.

The sporting, recreational and spiritual event began with a small parade of children, who marched according to their age, carrying flags and other objects representatives of different Mexican cultures, including Maya, Aztec, Olmec, Purépecha, Toltec, Huasteca, Zapoteca, Mixteca and Chichimeca.

Each delegation of children was accompanied by their respective guides.

The central figure of the event was the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, who was asked to bless the Mexican people, “as she always does.” Later a floral offering was offered to the venerated “Guadalupana” which the children decorated with green, white and red flowers.
