Mexican Military invite children to exchange bellicose for educational toys

The 32nd. Military Zone, through the XX Regiment of Motorized Cavalry, started the program “Let’s Play Without Violence” (Juguemos sin Violencia) on Saturday August 25th in Valladolid, where parents took their children to exchange pugnacious toys for others more didactic, in order to eradicate violent behaviors.

The exchange took place in the corridors of the Municipal Palace of Valladolid and will continue on September 4 and 5 in the municipality of Peto, and then on Sept. 10 and 11 in Tizimín.

The goal is to prevent kids from playing with toys that are replicas of firearms, swords or knives, as this can lead to the encouragement of violence among children, and generate an aggressive behaviour from an early age, with  negative repercussions in adolescence and adulthood.

These toys are being exchanged for other didactic or traditional of the region, in order to make the children have a healthier development. The toys that are given to them are more ludic and promote promote preference for sports, games of skill and dexterity. Toys that do not represent any danger.

“Adults are the example for children, who are the future of Mexico, therefore we must ensure that they develop in a much healthier environment.”
