Gastronomic Festival in Celestún

Jaime Solís Garza, president of the Tourist Business Council of Yucatan (Consejo Empresarial Turístico de Yucatán: Cetur) declared that a work plan is being developed, which would include a gastronomic festival in Celestún, in order to promote this beach destination internationally.

He added that they will present a general program of activities to the governor-elect Mauricio Vila, after the transition process, so that the incoming government team can hold a meeting with the members of that agency.

“As mayor of Mérida, Vila gave a lot of importance to the tourism sector and, above all, he focused on the city’s gastronomic programs to promote this sector, he even invited some of the best chefs in the world to visit the state capital,” he said.

Solís Garza recalled that in recent years, Yucatan registered a tourist rise of 7.3% and an increase of 4.3% in cruises, as well as several national and international distinctions for the quality of their services, but this would not have been possible without the effort of government and private sectors.

“Last year tourism left a spill of eight billion pesos, not counting foreign transports, and these achievements should impel us to continue on the path of synergy, with continuous improvement and adding efforts to achieve common goals” he concluded.
