Yucatan maintains its dynamics of industrial development with the arrival of new investments, such as that of the firm Bunge, which, attracted by the logistical conditions, infrastructure and security offered by the territory, put into operation the plant Molino del Mayab, reaffirming the state as a pole of regional, national and international competitiveness.
Governor Rolando Zapata Bello inaugurated the industrial complex, where wheat flour will be produced to supply both large and small companies in the state, as well as in Campeche, Quintana Roo, Chiapas and Tabasco. It should be noted that due to its technological, sanitary and modern facilities, this headquarters was positioned as one of the most important in Latin America.
Accompanied by the directors of the companies Bunge, Daniel Maldonado, and Jaguar, Ignacio Gil Sánchez, Zapata Bello affirms that industrial activity has its main impulse in the joint work of public and private agri-food sectors. Industry that has shown an advance of more than 44% since 2012, nearly 9% growth per year.
The president made a call to continue with the progress in the state, baed on a strong, mature and relevant manufacturing sector, for the welfare of the population and called for a sensible optimism to continue walking on the right path as a state.
“The last 36 months have been the best for the Yucatecan transformation industry in more than a century, with great expectations for the future, because our state has the confidence of world-class companies” said Sarita Blancarte Canto, state first lady and President of the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF).
Meanwhile, Gil Sanchez said that the location of Molino del Mayab represents a logistical advantage, that the wheat brought through the port of Progreso can be easily delivered to the factory and the flour produced could be exported efficiently in the future to other Latin American countries.
The entrepreneur reported that these facilities have high discharge quality, concrete silos for the storage of grain and to protect the climate, a well-equipped laboratory and a “pilot” bakery to run tests with the product.
Stainless steel is used extensively in this industry for storage, homogenization and milling areas, the latest technology is Swiss. In addition, strict environmental standards are met at the local and federal levels.
It was reported that an important part of the investment was allocated to industrial safety, through a sophisticated technical installation, equipment and systems for prevention, detection and control of fires, as well as quality monitoring in real time.
The factory is located 20 kilometers south of Progreso, and it was designed to achieve the best standards of productivity and environmental performance, using an state-of-the-art model that optimizes the process, ensures product quality and reduces energy consumption.
The construction of the building was carried out on a surface of 30 thousand square meters, of which 6,000 are used for the conservation areas and will employ up to 700 people.
Bunge is a global company with 200 years of success in the agribusiness and marketing of wheat flour, with presece in 40 countries, serving the market in Mexico through three business units: wheat milling, corn drying, as well as production of vegetable oils and fats.
The consortium has mills of this type in Querétaro, Veracruz, Jalisco, Sonora, Campeche, State of Mexico and Nuevo León.
Finally, the Governor, along with the managers, toured the modern headquarters, visiting the areas of reception of grains, sterilization and the production, packaging and control rooms, .
