MÉRIDA, Yuc.- The inauguration ceremony of the construction works for the “Litoteca Nacional de Yucatán” National (Mineral Collection Center of Yucatan) took place on June 1, and was attended by state and federal authorities.
This new information and research center in earth sciences has the purpose of managing and preserving the collections of rock samples found and collected all over Mexico.
This new research center will promote systematic studies oriented to the exploration and sustainable use of energy mining resources as well as the investigation of natural geological processes.
Litoteca Nacional de Yucatán is an Information and Research Center that administers and preserves the collections of rock, and other material samples collected throughout the country and promotes its systematic study aimed at the exploration and sustainable use of mining and energy resources and research.
The event was attended by Governor Rolando Zapata Bello, Federal Energy Secretary, Pedro Joaquín Coldwell; the commissioner president of the National Hydrocarbons Commission, Juan Carlos Cepeda Molina and the Secretary of Research, Innovation and Higher Education of Yucatán, Raúl Godoy Montañéz.
The Yucatan Mineral Collection facility (under construction), is located within the Technological Science Park of Yucatan, on the Sierra Papacal-Chuburná Highway, kilometer 5.
