Saving money is one of our main thoughts when we consider having a medical procedure. And what happens when it comes to our dental health? We want quality guarantee and a doctor that we can trust our smiles.

The city of Merida in Southeast Mexico has it all for us. It has a large offer of low-price, high-quality odontology procedures, giving us the opportunity of solving minor and major dental issues while letting us get to know a historical and peaceful city in which we can have a safe and pleasant recovery.

One of the most popular procedures is the dental implants surgery. According to the American Academy of Periodontology (2018), “dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason”. It is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. If we get more technical, this surgery is a procedure where an implant is placed below the gum and inside the bone, with the aim of replacing a tooth with similar or superior stability to that of the natural lost, obtaining an anchorage for the mobile dental prosthesis, getting to the jaw to maintain its function and not to lose volume by restoration.

The process for this procedure involves an evaluation and analysis of bone structure where the implant will be placed to confirm the patient is a candidate for the surgery. The ideal candidate for a dental implant has to be in good general and oral health, and must have adequate bone in the jaw to support the implant; the best candidates have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease. After confirmation, it’s time for the implant placement surgery, then the postoperative control and the final placement of the prosthetic abutment on the implant.

This surgery is known for being quick but very innovative and comfortable for the patient, achieving excellent results. Usually, the patient must rest for 3 days, taking analgesic medication, anti-inflammatory and postoperative antibiotic that the doctor will prescribe in order to avoid a possible infection.

There’s no better way to recover from a surgery than a peaceful time by yourself or with your family to heal better and faster, and in Mexico, doctors are always ready to work with you and to provide you the best services at the best price!

It’s always interesting to learn about dental practices in other regions and how they compare to our own. As an operating dentist in Calgary SW, I found the information and comparisons in the article to be quite informative. I appreciate the author shedding light on the quality and affordability of dental care in Mexico. This article serves as a great resource for those considering dental tourism or simply wanting to learn more about dentistry in other countries.
