Campeche was the entity that grew the most in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country during the first quarter of 2018, with 10.2 million US dollars, which represents an astonishing 298% of its total FDI for the period, reported the Secretariat of Economy of the Federal Government.
In this regard, Héctor Magaña Rodríguez, coordinator of the Center for Research in Economics and Business (CIEN) of Tecnológico de Monterrey, pointed out that the increases in the new Direct Foreign Investment in Campeche in the period are due to “the new port development, that features innovative and improved infrastructure, in order to diversify and expand the capacity, not only to improve the oil industry, but to encourage the arrival of capital in other economic activities. ”
At the national level, only four states presented advances in new investments in that period, significantly enough to promote the productive development of the economic sectors.
According to data from the Ministry of Economy of the Federal Government, the new FDI that Campeche received in the first three months of thie year, represents almost three times the total external investments that came to the state in the same period that, together, represented 3.4 million of dollars.
16 million in reinvestments were also raised, although there was a negative flow of -22.8 million in inter-company accounts.
In the first quarter of 2018, Campeche registered 10.2 million US dollars of new Foreign Direct Investment. In reinvestments, the amount amounted to 16 million dollars, although in capital flows there was a negative indicator of -22.8 million dollars. The result of the sum shows the 3.4 million that represent the total FDI.
Hence, the 10.2 million pesos of new investments are almost three times the total FDI.
The negative flows of capital, which in this period is 22 million dollars, are due to loans requested by the subsidiary companies to the parent companies abroad or advanced payments.
