The Yucatan Week in Mexico started on May 25 and will finish on June 3, and it is currently taking place at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.
This event seeks to promote the wide range of tourism, art and culture of Yucatan, for which it has more than 250 exhibitors from all corners of the state, which have been showing the treasures of the region such as crafts and textiles, considered the fundamental axis of the Yucatecan culture (along with its gastronomy).
The work of Yucatecan craftsmen goes from textiles, ceramics and woodcarving, to silver and gold. There are also embroideries that adorn with elegance and distinction the regional garments of the state. Regarding textiles, the guayaberas, hipiles and the famous jipijapa hats stand out.
The working hours at the Yucatan Week in Mexico is from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m in the Pabellón Este of the Palacio de los Deportes. Access is through Gate 5 and it is a free admission event.
Folkloric dancers perfomances are also an important part of the “Semana de Yucatan en México“.
It is worth mentioning that people in Mexico City is standing in line for hours in order to sample the gastronomic delicacies of the state of Yucatan, such as cochinita pibil, relleno negro, papadzules, salbutes and panuchos.
