Not many people in the state of Yucatan is aware of the fact that during 2016 fifty three agents of the GOERA, GOERA motorized, Lobos and Dorados Special Forces groups of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) were trained in the use of the 5.56 x 45 mm assault rifles, I.W.I. brand, of Israeli manufacture; with the objective of acquiring the technical knowledge necessary for the use of the rifle model Galil ACE-22, so these law enforcement officers could be assigned such weapons for operational tasks in order to protect the Yucatecan society.
The knowledge and skills for the handling of automatic weapons, allows the police of Yucatan to be better prepared to inhibit and repel threats against the security of the population, being one of the main reasons why Yucatan is the safest state in all of Mexico.
All of the agents were previously evaluated and approved in automatic weapons use and skills by the Ministry of National Defense based at the 32 Military Zone. All agents were tested at the Regional Individual Combat Training Center (CACIR).
The training, which was given at a local firing range, was provided by Israeli instructors from the “Israel Weapons Industries (IWI) arms company.
