On Saturday, 19 and Sunday 20 May, the City Council of Benito Juárez through the Institute of Culture and Arts celebrated the Maya Art and Culture Festival as part of the actions to preserve the traditions and customs of the region, offering more cultural attractions that promote the healthy living of the Cancun families.
In this sense, on Saturday, the Cultural Center of the Arts presented the textile exhibition of María Rosado and Marlyn Canche, called “Archive of the memory of the Mexican peninsular woman”, where they exhibited traditional costumes of the region known as “Hipil”.
Likewise, the conferences “The Dignity, Identity and Rights of Maya Women and Men” were given by writer Sol Ceh Moo and “The Maya Symbolism”, by the pedagogue Isabel Rodríguez.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, hundreds of families from Benito Juarez gathered in the park of Las Palapas, to enjoy artistic presentations, musicals, preHispanic dances, jarana, Maya poetry, as well as a visual arts exhibition with projections from the Maya Museum.
