Students of the Communication and Linguistics from the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY) will present the short film “Yuum Balam”, which showcases art, culture and plurality of the Mayan culture.

Prior to the screening, the audience will see some of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the production. In addition, during a panel table, starring actors Martín Noh and Luceli Ek will share their experiences during the recording.

They emphasized the importance of this type of project to transmit the Mayan culture, “which is very rich not only in its language, but also in customs and traditions.” the actors said.

They appreciated the opportunity to spread the word and showcase the roots of their culture through a cinematographic language and stressed that “Yuum Balam” is really only the beginning of a fertile seed that will bear fruit in the lives of future generations.

The short film will be exhibited next March 18 at the International Book Fair of Yucatán (Feria Internacional del Libro de Yucatán Filey) at the UADY University library module.
