

Roman Catholic Archbishop Gustavo Rodriguez Vega of Yucatán, Mexico is visiting Erie.
He is meeting with Erie’s church leaders and parishioners..
Since 1971, the Archdiocese of Merida and and the Diocese of Erie have had a relationship. Through the Mission of Friendship, there have been exchanged programs, Merida has sent Spanish-speaking priests to Erie, and Erie has provided outreach services to resident in Yucatan.
Archbishop Rodriguez Vega said in Spanish, “The main hope is that the mission of friendship continues” and that the mission will continue to serve both communities.
He visited Saint Julia Parish on Wednesday February 28, and Saint Stephen of Hungary Parish on Friday March 2.
