Quintana Roo’s former secretary of government arrested in Puerto Aventuras

The Attorney General of Quintana Roo ordered preventive detention and the seizure of 18 properties located in Playa del Carmen, one more in Mahahual and 21 vehicles to Gabriel Mendicuti Loria, former Secretary of Government in the administration of Roberto Borge.

Mendicuti Loría, was apprehended on Saturday January 20, by agents attached to the Ministerial Police, when he was having dinner with his family in Puerto Aventuras, municipality of Solidaridad, in the state of Quintana Roo.

Mendicuti Loría, who also presided the Solidaridad municipality during the 2002-2005 period, was secretary of Government during the administration of the former governor, Roberto Borge Angulo, who is now linked to trial and under preventive detention, for the crime of Operations with Resources of Illegal Origin.

The former official, was previously Secretary of Infrastructure and Transportation (Sintra), during the adminstration of governor Felix Gonzalez Canto (2005-2011) and he was Enrique Peña Nieto campaign coordinator in Quintana Roo, when he was a candidate for presidency of the Republic.

The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the accusations against Mendicuti Loría are in the investigation folder 151/2017, opened for the probable crimes of illicit use of power and for irregular performance of the public function.

As a result, arrest warrants were requested against him and the other former officials, linked to contracts, payments and rental of air services, linked to the air transportation service company, Vip Saesa.
