Mérida, Yuc.- The airline Aeroméxico announced that its new Monterrey-Mérida direct route will begin operations on Thursday March 1st, with four weekly flights.
This new route seeks to strengthen the connectivity of the Yucatecan capital with major national and international destinations.

“With this, Monterrey, the airline’s second most important operations center will connect with Merida, one of the most important tourist destinations in Mexico, so that tourism and commercial exchange between these two cities can increase significantly” said Anko Van Der Werff, Executive Income Director of Aeromexico.
In addition, Aeromexico anticipated that among its plans for this year, a direct flight from Merida to Las Vegas, Nevada is being contemplated.
This new route will be operated with Embraer 170 equipment, with capacity for 76 passengers. On average, 45 000 Yucatecans travel to national and international destinations every year, so these new flights offer more options for local travellers.
In this regard, Anko van der Werff commented that “with this new addition to our hub in Monterrey, our customers in the northeast region of the country will have more options for domestic flights, in addition to five major international destinations that Aeromexico offers, departing out of Monterrey: New York , Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Denver and Seoul, South Korea. “
“Merida is the seventh destination with the highest passenger flow from Monterrey and has presented a sustained growth of 10 percent annually,” he concluded.
