CANCUN – “Cancun is ready to receive the thousands of tourists who will visit our beaches this holiday season,” said the Mayor Remberto Estrada Barba, mentioning that it is expected to break the record of influx with respect to 2016.

Based on the Official Airline Guide, for the winter season 2017-2018, the programming of 5 million 136 thousand 527 airplane seats from the different airports in the world to Cancun is reported, which represents an increase of 8.5% over the previous winter season.

“This is undoubtedly great news for us, since our commitment as a government is that Cancun continues to be a leader in tourism and that it generates more investment for the benefit of the people of Benito Juárez, and we are achieving this,” said the mayor.

In the first 10 months of the year, the Cancun airport registered 19 million 591 thousand 535 passengers in the cabin, which, compared with the same period of 2016, represents an increase of 10.7%. In October, ASUR reported 1,491 745 passengers, and this is 5.2% more than in the same month of 2016.

“We are working every day to ensure the safety for our inhabitants and those who visit us, so they can rest easy, go to work, to school, to their daily tasks, as well as to enjoy the wonders that Cancún offers, and the figures in decrease of crime are giving results,” emphasized the mayor.

Investors have confidence, as there are new projects in the works such as the expansion of the Grand Moon Palace, the construction of the Hard Rock hotel, the Atelier Playa Mujeres hotel, Riu Costa Mujeres, Ushuaia Cancún, El Pueblito, as well as the expansion of the Marina El Cid hotel.

For the next two years, the construction of more than 10 thousand hotel rooms is planned; the International Convention Center of Cancun opens its image with which it will offer 14 thousand 200 square meters and will have capacity to serve 5 thousand people.
