MERIDA — The head of the Trade Fair Committee, Humberto Rodríguez Cural, assured that for this edition the fair will have all necessary security measures, including civil protection, police agents of the three levels of government, firemen, and other public safety elements.
He explained that last year there were only a few accidents that happened inside and outside the fair, so it is projected that for this edition similar conditions should prevail.
“There is an extraordinary vigilance at the fair, since it starts on 50th Street, surrounds the entire fairgrounds and reaches 42nd street on the periphery,” he explained.
It was said that, on the surrounding roads, and in the Merida periphery area, check points will be installed to prevent accidents due to drunkenness.
Although the regulation of alcohol consumption is the subject of the Ministry of Health, the head of the fair committee said that sales start at approximately 1 in the afternoon, and end at 3 in the morning for some venues.
“Normally it varies, as in the case of the palenque they are given an hour more or less, but the schedule is from 1pm to 3am basically,” he said.
During this edition there will be 25 points plus 3 bars and the palenque restaurants that will be selling alcoholic beverages within the fair, in the aforementioned schedule.
