The City Council receives distinction for making it easier to pay property tax…
MERIDA — With its project “Predial (property tax) in 3 steps”, the Merida Council was named “The most innovative”, a recognition by Innovation-Week Magazine to public sector organizations that have made information technology a strategic element for benefit of citizens, informed the mayor Mauricio Vila Dosal.
Vila Dosal said that the “Predial in 3 steps” program represents a significant advance in the way of doing municipal procedures by reducing time, money and paper work.
In a statement he recalled that he also has been recognized nationally by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness, the National Association of Mayors and the Strategic Communications Cabinet, among other agencies.
The Director of Information Technologies, Rodrigo Solís, reported that this service has become the most consulted of online payments offered by the City, with an average of more than 54 thousand visits in 2017.
He also commented that the Innovation-Week Magazine ranking, carried out by both private companies and public sector organizations, is the most prestigious in the Mexican industry.
Netmedia Research and the editorial board of the magazine collaborate in the development of the ranking, in addition to being audited by a firm of international prestige.
Each year the number of participants who wish to receive recognition increases. On this occasion, public sector organizations registered 70 projects, and 50 were chosen to be included in the list.
Rodrigo Solis said that the benefits of this project include an increase in the collection of the tax through the Internet, increased public confidence in completing the entire process online and from any mobile phone, and a new approach in the way of doing procedures through the simplification of processes.
The project was launched at the beginning of 2017, by Mayor Mauricio Vila. The new modality for the payment of the property can be done in less than five minutes.
From January 2 to January 31 the collection of this tax through Internet was $19,634,000 pesos, which means 51% more compared to the $10,081,000 obtained last year in the same period.
