MERIDA – As reported previously here on TYT, the five alleged ATM thieves still await the results of the investigation against them, while Judge Luis Edwin Mugarte Guerrero on Sunday Nov. 26 determined that the suspects accused of participating in the robbery of an ATM in the Yucalpetén district should be held in preventive custody.
During the hearing, held in Room 2 of the Second Court of Control presided by Mugarte Guerrero, it was revealed that the amount of money stolen was $867,900 pesos, and at the time of the apprehension, only a little bit more than $130,000 pesos were recovered.
Likewise, the Office of the Prosecutor presented data with which it is sought to establish the criminal case against the accused, A.Z.T. 34 years old, originally from the state of Veracruz; C.H.E., of 44, of Mexico City; A.A.L.G., 31, originally from Oaxaca and based in Puebla; F.L.L., from Puebla, and J.G.E., 45, from the State of Mexico.
It worth to mention that the affected bank, in this case Santander, has not presented any register of the transactions made before and after of the date on which the crime was committed.
The defense team (15 attorneys in total) indicated that their clients brought different amounts of money for the purchase of vehicles in Merida and reiterated their innocence.
After the next hearing was set in one month’s time, the Office of the Prosecutor requested that this period be extended to 90 days to gather sufficient evidence and carry out the corresponding proceedings, however, this was rejected.
