Two femicides committed in less than one hour in Cancún

CANCUN — A woman was executed on Wednesday October 4, in Fraccionamiento Prado Norte, Region 260 of Cancun. There are no detainees as yet.

According to preliminary information, subjects aboard a black motorcycle intercepted the woman, shot her several times at point blank range and then fled the scene.

The murder occurred on Privada de Siricote, Manzana 10, Region 260, where the female, about 30 years old, ended up lying in the middle of the street.

Paramedics from the Jet Medical private ambulance service arrived onsite and corroborated that the victim no longer had vital signs.

Municipal, state and federal police officers arrived at the place, while the Federal Police initiated the corresponding investigations.

One hour later, another woman was shot dead in an apartment building located in the Corales section of Region 77, also in Cancún.

Witnesses report that a man in black and wearing a hood went up to the third floor of an apartment building in Region 77, where he shot the woman and then took off.

The victim, blond and fair-skinned, had been living in the building for only a few weeks, according to neighbors. Her roommate pointed out that the gunman could be her sentimental partner.

Paramedics of the Red Cross arrived at the scene, but nothing could be done to save the woman’s life, and she died within a few minutes. Agents of the State, Municipal and Ministerial Police patrolled the area in search of the suspect, but no arrests have been reported so far in relation with this murder.

This is the homicide number 139 so far this year in Benito Juárez, the third in this month of October.
