One injured by gunshots fired at Channel 10 in Cancun

CANCUN — One person was injured when two subjects opened fire on the front door of the Cancun building of Channel 10, a cable TV channel with coverage throughout the Yucatan peninsula.

The head of the Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Miguel Angel Pech Cen, pointed out that “one of the main lines of research is related to Channel 10’s professional activities.”

Later, the official stated that “it was an isolated incident, in the sense that there is still not enough data or evidence to determine or presume that it was a direct attack against this media organization.”

“The attack”, he added, “could have been against the TV Channel, against one of its employees or against somebody else at the scene”.

The prosecutor indicated that during the attack a Channel 10 39-year-old accounting assistant was injured.

However, according to the prosecutor, the injury was not serious, as the wound was the result of a rebound of a bullet, that struck the victim in the shoulder. The man was immediately taken to the IMSS clinic located in Supermanzana 510.

According to Pech Cen, with the preliminary data it has been concluded that two individuals fired at the facilities of the media corporation building from the parking lot, and the case is being currently investigated by the Ministerial Police.
